About Heart of Maine
United Way
HoMEUW imagines a community where no one struggles to meet their basic needs; where all people are fed, housed, financially stable, and safe; where there are no barriers and no stigma when it comes to accessing treatment and recovery services; and where all parents and caregivers can enroll their children in high quality care settings and have the support they need to be strong parents. We imagine a community where we are all making a difference and leading the charge, together.
That’s why, since 1937, Heart of Maine United Way has been mobilizing the caring power of people and communities throughout Hancock, Penobscot, Piscataquis, Somerset, Waldo, and Washington Counties, to provide essential services and identify solutions aimed at creating lasting changes to the root causes of the community’s most pressing needs.
