Friends,
We are writing to you today both as 30+ year health care veterans and board members of the United Way of Eastern Maine. As the news about the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) unfolds hour by hour we are all looking for ways that we can support our community.
We are all feeling particularly concerned about those folks who will miss time from work or lost wages now that we are facing a national emergency. In response, United Way of Eastern Maine has set up the COVID-19 Response Fund for Eastern Maine. This fund has been very generously underwritten by Bangor Savings Bank so that 100% of all money collected will go directly to our community. They have also made the first gift of $10,000. We are so incredibly grateful for their generosity.
Funds will be distributed by United Way to nonprofit partners working directly with those affected by COVID-19. We will begin distribution of funds immediately.
Please join us by donating today online at http://bit.ly/EMCOVID19Fund, texting EMCovid19Fund to 41444, or by using the form below.
If you are in need of information about COVID-19 the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Maine CDC) and 211 Maine announced yesterday a new option for Mainers to get answers to questions about COVID-19 at any time. This service is available by dialing 211 (or 1-866-811-5695), texting your ZIP code to 898-211, or emailing info@211maine.org . They are here to help, we encourage you to reach out.
And thank you. If there is ever a need for us to work together, UNITED, today is that day.
Most sincerely,
Helen McKinnon, RN
