Volunteers needed – Can you help?

Volunteers Needed to Award $800,000 in Grant Funding!

United Way of Eastern Maine (UWEM) is recruiting approximately 80 community volunteers to review grant applications for our upcoming funding cycle. UWEM applications are accepted from non-profit programs that align with our community investment goals throughout Hancock, Penobscot, Piscataquis, Waldo and Washington counties.

UWEM relies on volunteer funding panels to review applications and make recommendations to our Community Impact Committee and Board of Directors. These panels are comprised of community members, service recipients, UWEM donors, non-profit professionals, and many more. Your voice will be critical in helping UWEM honor our donor dollars throughout Eastern Maine.

No experience is necessary and training is provided.

Virtual Tax Preparers Needed to Return Millions to Community!

The Eastern Maine CA$H Coalition is searching for virtual volunteers to prepare tax returns online.  This program returned over $4 million dollars to middle- and low-income families in our region, and helped them to learn more about the financial resources available in their community.

No experience is needed, and specialized training to become an IRS-certified preparer will be provided at no cost to you. This service can provide additional education credits and/or volunteer hours while helping those in need.
