Fuel Assistance Fund.
Last year, 4,108 contacts to 211 Maine were seeking heating and utility assistance. There is no doubt that the high cost of heating has hit many households extra hard this year.
In response to this pressing need for heating and utility assistance in our six-county service area, Heart of Maine United Way established the Fuel Assistance Fund. All donations to our Fuel Assistance Fund are distributed to organizations assisting local residents in need of a little extra help with heating.
Thousands of Mainers are faced with choosing between heating their homes and basic needs like food and medicine.
Each year, HoMEUW along with the United Ways of Maine partners with NEWS CENTER Maine for the Project Heat Telethon. This year the telethon took place on January 25th and raised $294,459.
However, you can still make a donation:
- Within our six counties (Hancock, Penobscot, Piscataquis, Somerset, Waldo, Washington) donate here.
- To the statewide fund
