Internships can be a powerful way to build capacity within your organization while also creating meaningful, real-world learning experiences for students interested in the nonprofit sector.
Join Melanie Brooks of the Maine Business School for a practical conversation on designing effective internships. This session will explore how to create opportunities that work for both organizations and students—from traditional placements to micro-internships that accommodate busy academic schedules, while also reducing barriers to participation and improving overall impact.
We’ll cover:
- How to design internships that align with organizational needs
- The value and structure of micro-internships
- Strategies for creating accessible and inclusive opportunities for students
- Best practices for supervision, feedback, and engagement
- Ways to ensure internships are meaningful for both students and organizations
Participants are encouraged to bring questions or examples of current or planned internship programs for discussion.
