Wilcox Wellness & Fitness invites the community to join their 10th annual Burpees for Turkeys event, benefiting United Way’s hunger relief initiatives. This highly anticipated event will take place on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 11 AM at both the Bangor and Brunswick locations.

This year’s milestone event continues a decade-long commitment to combating food insecurity and childhood hunger in Maine. “One in five children in Maine struggles with food insecurity,” shared Paige Wilcox, owner of Wilcox Wellness & Fitness in Bangor. “As a mother, this issue hits home. Ten years ago, I knew we had to act—and Burpees for Turkeys was born.”

Since its inception, the event has raised over $90,000 to support hunger relief efforts. “This year, our goal is to raise more than $10,000 furthering our impact on this critical issue,” said Wilcox.

Maine faces staggering hunger challenges, with nearly 150,000 residents—including 40,000 children—struggling to access sufficient nutritious food. “Wilcox Wellness & Fitness exemplifies what it means to truly build community and care for their neighbors, inside and outside the walls of their gym,” said Shirar Patterson, President & CEO of Heart of Maine United Way. “We are proud to partner with them on such a meaningful effort.”

For every $5 donated, WILCOX trainers and staff will complete one burpee. If the $10,000 fundraising goal is surpassed, the trainer team will tackle more than 2,000 burpees—making a meaningful impact on hunger relief efforts across Maine!
