Programs We Fund

The Move-In program, run by Maine Multicultural Center (MMCC), helps refugees, asylum seekers, and voluntary migrants secure and settle into safe, affordable housing. For refugees, MMCC partners with Catholic Charities of Maine, guaranteeing rental payments to help those without rental or credit histories qualify as tenants. Since refugees often arrive with minimal belongings, MMCC collects and provides essential furniture, bedding, and household items—setting up their new homes before they arrive. For asylum seekers and voluntary migrants, MMCC offers flexible support such as assistance with housing applications, lease negotiations, financial aid for deposits, and furnishing apartments based on individual needs. This program ensures that newcomers have a welcoming, fully equipped home to start their new lives in Maine.
