Penobscot Bay Community Health Partnerships (PBCHP) is addressing rising overdose rates and limited substance use disorder resources in Waldo County through its Prevention & Recovery program. The program offers substance use prevention and harm reduction education in schools and the community, including stigma-reducing Narcan training. It provides essential harm reduction tools like Narcan kits, medication lockboxes, and drug testing strips, distributed through new community partnerships. The program also supports individuals reentering the community after incarceration with “Backpacks for Prevention” containing supplies and resources. A dedicated Harm-Reduction Specialist will lead these efforts, fostering collaboration and education to reduce overdoses and build a compassionate, resilient community.
